Have you ever heard of Okayama University in Japan? At Okayama University, we are quite active in promoting international co-research and student exchange aiming to foster individuals who can contribute to the global society. Our university is positive in accepting international students to our campuses as well as sending our students to overseas universities and institutions. At the same time, we work on globalization of our university through concluding international exchange agreements with overseas universities and institutions. These agreements will help us pursue academic and student exchanges with other countries.

Okayama city where Okayama University is located has population of approximately 700,000. The city has been flourished as the key area of transportation through the ages and is still serving as a hub of transportation network in West Japan. Facing scenic Seto Inland Sea, it is also famous for Seto Ohashi, one of the biggest suspension bridges in the world. Okayama University has its extensive campuses of 206 hectare in the center of Okayama city.

Okayama University has 11 faculties and 7 graduate schools. The total number of students including undergraduates and graduates is approximately 14,000 studying various areas of humanities as well as science courses. Our education and research activities are highly evaluated in Japan. In 2007, it was first-ranked for educational field and eleventh-ranked for research in the mutual assessment conducted by Presidents of Japanese National Universities.

Approximately 650 international students from various countries are studying at Okayama University. We have International Exchange Agreements with about 170 overseas universities and research institutions. As for our branch offices, there is one in Vietnam (Hue), two in China (Changchun and Shenyang). We also have a Collaborative Research Center for Infectious Diseases in India. These branch offices and the research center work as bases for our various international exchange programs centering Asian countries. Through these global exchanges, Okayama University contributes and conveys its academic achievements to all over the world.
