Graduate School of Health Sciences

In November 2005, the Okayama University Graduate School of Health Sciences established a working group to promote international exchange. The program initiated international exchange activities at the organizational level with the aim of fostering much-needed scholars having a global perspective.

Training in Thailand

The program has a fixed number of 8 undergraduate students and 1 – 2 guidance instructors. 　Places visited included Chulalongkom University，FAO，JICA，Mahasarakham Nursing College, on-site medical facilities in villages and other institutions. 1st Trip: March 6 – 11, 2006 2nd Trip March 3 – 9, 2007 3rd Trip: February 28 – March 7, 2008 4th Trip: March 1 – 8, 2009

Reception of trainers and educational researchers from abroad

• Field trips on campus and to hospitals, participation in classes, exchanges with students, and special lectures.
• Nov. 2005—Three speakers from the Mahasarakham Nursing College, including the university president (3 days)
• Apr. 2007—Ten Thai high school students from the OISCA Shikoku Training Center, Kagawa Prefecture
• Oct. 2007—Fifteen Asian trainers from the OISCA Shikoku Training Center, Kagawa Prefecture
• Nov. 2007—Three instructors from the Mahasarakham Nursing College (5 days)
• Apr. 2008—Assistant undergraduate director of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), United States
• Oct. 2008—Instructor from the Mahasarakham Nursing School (7 days)

Support for Students to Participate in Overseas Activities

Aug. 2006 Seminar project support for AIDS training in north Thailand— three students Overseas field training in instruction for graduate students via the Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID)

Seminar project support and training for four students in Thailand, with visit to International Labor Organization (ILO) and Chulalongkhom University Hospital Teacher’s training for graduate students in Laos (two weeks) Preliminary instruction in nursing for four undergraduates via a short-term study abroad experience in Canada and Australia (two weeks)

Aug. 2008 Seminar project support for six students via the International Center for Joint Projects in Thailand and Cambodia
