Message From President

The mission of any university is to create and further knowledge as the basis for the development of human society. Okayama University, an official educational institution of knowledge, is committed to the our goal "Building up a new paradigm for the sustainable evolution of human society" in order to provide substance to our society's commitment to knowledge.
Okayama University, one of Japan's leading universities, is situated on an extensive campus and has eleven faculties and Master's and Doctoral courses embracing humanities, social, natural, environmental and life sciences, and pedagogics. Approximately 14,000 students including 600 international students currently enjoy life at this university, and 2,600 staff are engaged in educational and research activities, and university management.
At Okayama University, we cooperate with staff and students in order to achieve the following goals:
  • Creation of high-level research with a view to becoming one of the most distinguished research institutions in the world.
  • Development of individuals who have the ability to create knowledge independently as a basic educational goal; cultivation of a rich human society; and encouragement of individuals with both academic ability and enriched minds who will contribute in various capacities, not only to Japan, but also to the wider world.
  • An aim to work with the community and the larger society in a range of diverse fields.
  • Constant self-evaluation of our work in every field, including research, education, contribution to society and university management, in order to provide accountability as a public institution through official communication and university reform
