Visit of trainees from Oceania
| On 16th July (Thu.), nine mathematic teachers at primary and secondary schools of eight countries in Pacific Small Island States visited Okayama University. Sponsored by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), their visit was undertaken and organized by Naruto University of Education as a part of the 2009 regional training program for teachers. The teachers were from Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of the Fiji Islands, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Republic of Palau, Republic of Vanuatu and Federated States of Micronesia. Upon their visit, they received lectures from Professor Kozo Atobe of the Faculty of Education and Mr. Yasuhiro Sugawara, Director of General Affairs Division. After that, they visited Professor Kyozo Chiba, President of our university to pay their respects. The teachers told him that the lectures at our university were quite informative and would be a great help for the improvement of math education in their home countries. Professor Chiba expressed his expectation for their effort in the math education for children back home since it is one of the most important subject to teach. They exchanged friendly and cordial conversations with each other all through the meeting. |
