Establishing a Communication Symbol

Okayama University strives to become a “beautiful university city” and serves as a base for international research and education. A “communication symbol” was created to showcase the creative intelligence originating from experts gathered in Okayama Prefecture from around the world.

The Okayama University communication symbol’s motif is composed with the “O” of Okayama and “U” of University. The shape represents a “door of knowledge” open to the world, and demonstrates the beginning of the “communication of knowledge” at Okayama. The shade of blue displays the wisdom of Okayama University and symbolizes the blue sky of “The land of Sunshine.”

The communication symbol went into effect on April 1, 2012, to enhance Okayama University’s image and encourage operation of various activities.
