Announcement of Cutting Edge Research Achievements at “Innovation JAPAN 2014”: Japan's Largest Academia-Industry Matching Fair

Okayama University exhibited results of its researches at “Innovation JAPAN 2014”, that is the Japan's largest academia-industry matching fair held at Tokyo Big Sight on September 11 and 12.

Dr. Yuki Monden, assistant professor of the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Sciences, presented innovative method for cultivar determination that simplifies the vital test used for food safety and security.

Dr. Takeo Hiraki, senior assistant professor at the Okayama University Hospital, demonstrated a robot for CT-guided interventional radiology (IVR) to save physicians from being exposed to radiation during biopsies and etc.

Dr. Masahiro Takaiwa, associate professor of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, also demonstrated walking-support shoes having pneumatic drive using the wearer's weight to prevent stumbles, which are quite common amongst the elderly.

In all, six research achievements in five fields, named as life sciences, medical treatment, senior citizens' lifestyles, low carbon / energy, and nano materials, were exhibited, leading to active exchange of views with visitors to the booth.

Organization for Research Promotion & Collaboration of Okayama University will continue to actively support the participation of its members in exhibitions in order to promote and spread our research achievements and to transfer technology in the future.
