Theory and Practice of Communication

These lectures provide participants with foundational skills one needs in order to work with a diverse group of people in the global society of the future. After introductions to communication topics, such as listening skills, conceptual methods, logical thinking, and facilitation, participants form teams consisting of students in their first to fourth year from both the Department of Economics and the Department of Engineering. Each team develops strategies to solve real challenges that companies face. On the final day, students give a presentation to corporate executives in a competition evaluating how well teams were able to cooperate and produce original ideas. These lectures have received great comments from participants, including "I'm glad I registered for this lecture," "I want to recommend it to younger students," and "I was able to learn the skills I need to start working in the future."
