Educational Philosophy
Health professionals directly involved in human life and health problems must possess thorough knowledge and highly developed skills. These professionals must have a rich background in the humanities, a deep sense of ethics, and high sensitivity to clients' needs. Our mission is to promote activities that integrate medicine, health, and welfare and allow participants to live healthy and productive lives while respecting the dignity of each life that they seek to help. To accomplish this, we have established the concept of "health promotion" as one of our key philosophies, along with "holistic care" and "team care" as educational ideals.
"Holistic care" implies care provided not only with a biological understanding of health problems, but care that appropriately situates medical issues within the family and/or community context of each individual and solves these problems practically with specialized, cutting edge skills and knowledge that reflect a deep sense of ethics and humanity.
"Team care" refers to effective and appropriate care carried out with close cooperation between medical staff with keeping each spatiality. In team care, each member is expected to work not only as a member of the team but also as team leader. The scientific and practical development of this idea in the educational context is still in its preliminary stages; however, this concept calls urgent attention to the need to foster human resources that can act as knowledgeable and skilled leaders in practice, research, and education. In response to these social needs and in order to create a high-quality curriculum that emphasizes the concepts of health promotion, holistic care, and team care, we aim to provide future researchers and educators with the resources necessary for them to make significant positive contributions to the health professions.
