@The Okayama University Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences
is a comparatively young Graduate School organization, with its origins
in three Graduate Schools established in 1971 and 1977: the Graduate School
of Literature (Masterfs Program), the Graduate School of Law (Masterfs
Program), and the Graduate School of Economics (Masterfs Program). The
origins of Okayama University itself, however, can be traced back to Okayama-han
Medical University, which was established by the Ikeda Clan in 1870, and
its successor, Okayama Medical University, and to the No. 6 High School
established in 1900. This long and unbroken tradition is carried on to
the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Refer to the following
Historical Sketch for more details.
