研究グループ

患者数が多く神経内科として社会的ニーズも高い分野について研究を進めています。現在の主な研究内容は大きく３本柱となっており、脳卒中・認知症・神経変性疾患というテーマで行っています。
脳卒中研究グループ
当教室の阿部教授は抗酸化薬エダラボン（商品名ラジカット）の抗脳浮腫作用を発見し、現在、脳卒中診療の現場で広く臨床応用されている脳保護療法の開発者として、世界的に有名な先生です。このように当科では脳梗塞急性期治療、脳保護療法、遺伝子治療、再生医療の開発研究を精力的に行っています。加えて脳梗塞病変の慢性期の再生医療の研究も世界で初めて行い注目されています。現在では中枢神経領域での再生医療が大きな脚光を浴びていますので、今後ますます発展していく分野です。興味のある方は是非ご一緒にがんばってみませんか？
認知症研究グループ
患者が急増しているアルツハイマー病患者について、functional MRIやPET、 SPECT、MEG、タッチパネル式認知症検査機械（右図）などを用いた脳画像解析や臨床診断上重要な早期診断法の開発、脳血管性認知症の病態解明、遺伝子解析を行っています。最近開発した血清によるアルツハイマー病早期診断法は国内外で高く評価されており、認知症治療における画期的な研究といわれています。同時に進めているトランスジェニックマウスなどの 認知症モデル動物を用いたアルツハイマー病の根本的治療法開発ならびに発症予防治療法開発研究も成功し、将来的な臨床応用に向けて研究を続けています。
神経変性疾患研究グループ
PETやSPECTを用いたパーキンソン病や筋萎縮性側索硬化症、脊髄小脳変性症などの神経変性疾患の臨床画像解析を始め、臨床病態診断や遺伝子解析などを行っています。またトランスジェニックマウスなどのモデル動物を用いて、これら神経変性疾患の病態解明を推進しつつ、遺伝子治療や再生医療の研究が成功しており、ヒト臨床応用へ向けた準備を進めています。
