Okayama University (OU) had contributed to establishment and development of Jomo Kenyatta university (JKUAT) through JICA program (1981-2000). In 2000, after end of JICA project, OU and JKUAT signed MOU for international collaboration at faculty level, which was graded up to whole university level in 2006. Both universities fostered research collaboration and exchange program using MEXT scholarship, ABE-Initiative JICA project and university budgets. President of OU and vice chancellor of JKUAT had reciprocal visit twice previously. In last decade, we complemented JSPS Asia Africa platform programs (2011-2013, 2014-16), including scholar and student exchange and cooperative seminars. OU has contributed Africa-ai-JAPAN JICA program as core university in agricultural section in exchange of students and scholars and training programs.

Based on these achievements, OU and JKUAT apply to SATREPS program of JICA and JST joint program and JSPS Core-to-Core program (Asia-Africa Science Platforms) for improved livelihood in Africa by innovation of agriculture and technology.
