Details about Okayama University Summer Program 2017

 ●Period: June 22 (Thursday), 2017 – July 14 (Friday), 2017
 ●Certificate & Credit:
   Those who successfully complete the program will be awarded a certificate and 3
  credits from the Center for Global Partners and Education, Okayama University.
 ●Total number of participants: 45 maximum (Minimum number: 20)
  If the total number of qualified applicants does not meet this minimum number,
  this summer program may be cancelled. The decision about whether this program
  will be carried out will be made and announced by May 24.
 ●Program Contents:
   2017 Summer Program Schedule(Tentative)   Syllabus(Tentative)
 This program offers many opportunities to learn about the people and culture of Japan,
 environmental sciences, medical science, and to explore the Okayama region.
  A) Lecture Topics: Environmental Sciences, Health Science, Waste Management,
    Archaeology, Global Education, Haiku (Japanese poem),Noh Theater, etc.
  B) Japanese Language Program (Novice-Intermediate)
  C) Excursions and Field Work:
  D) Optional excursions
     NOTE: Fees for the optional excursions are not included in our calculation
     of tuition and fees.

Eligibility of Application

Undergraduate students who are studying in universities with which Okayama University has agreement for academic or student exchange will be given priority.
Undergraduate students from other overseas higher education institutions are also encouraged to apply. However, cannot receive the tuition waiver and cannot be considered for the JASSO scholarship.


Language Requirements

Since English is the medium language of instruction in this program, you are required to be proficient in the English language. If you are non-native speaker of English, please submit any of the following documents as proof that you meet the standard as follows:
   TOEFL iBT 61 or above
   IELTS 5.0 with the remark of the CEFR B2 level or above
   Other English test score which can be consider as the CEFR B2 level or above.

   NOTE: CEFR stands for Common European Framework of Reference for
      Languages standard
     *If you have any questions regarding this English proficiency requirement,
     please contact our program coordinator (see #13).

PROGRAM TUITION AND FEES

  ●For students from partner institutions :
                            Tuition      Waiver
                            Fees    125,000 JPY
  ●For students from the non-partner institutions:
                            Tuition   44,400 JPY

                            Fees    125,000 JPY
  ●Accommodation (Options available – Price varies)
                              69,000 – 122,000 JPY
  NOTE: The above costs exclude the cost of air ticket and transportation from your
      country to Okayama as well as all personal expenses such as travel insurance,
   food, commuting transportation, etc.

Scholarship Opportunity for Students from Partner Institutions:

If you are applying from our partner institutions and maintain good standing on your academic record, you are encouraged to apply for our scholarship program (80,000 JPY).
The official transcript from our partner institutions submitted with your application for this Summer Program will be referred whether you satisfy the JASSO’s criteria for the scholarship. The award decision will be made on May 31.      JASSO's criteria


IMPORTANT: TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIREMENT:

All participants are required to arrange travel insurance in their home countries before departing to Japan.

Application Acceptance Result

The application acceptance result will be announced within 7 days after we receive the application. We will also inform you of your nomination for JASSO scholarship candidacy if you are found to be eligible and qualified. Prompt application is highly recommended since the total number of scholarship recipients is limited.
