As a result of our efforts in Mathematics and Data Science Education, Okayama University has been certificated in MDASH (Approved Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education)- Literacy by MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) on June 30, 2021.

This certification system was established in cooperation with the Cabinet Office, MEXT and METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). To promote the field of Mathematics, Data Science and AI, the Minister of MEXT selects and approves regular courses at universities and other institutions that provide systematic education on knowledge and skills related to Mathematics, Data Science and AI. The aims of this certification are to generate interest in these studies, to develop a thorough understanding of the concepts, and to foster basic skills for their utilization.

Since the 2019 academic year, Okayama University has been developing a "Mathematical and Data Science Education Program for all students in the Humanities and Sciences." We are proud to have been recognized as one of 11 schools in this first certification for MDASH-Literacy.
