School of Economics and Discovery Program for Global Learners students held joint (online) sessions with the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University

School of Economics organized a joint program “Tackling the Social Issues in Thailand and Japan by Social Entrepreneurship” with the School of Global Studies(hereinafter SGS), Thammasat University (Dr. Istvan Rado) from March 1 to 29, 2022. 10 students from School of Economics and 8 from the Discovery Program, together with 54 students from the SGS participated in the program.

Students held two joint sessions on March 8 and 22, and after introducing their own country’s society, culture, and social issues, they worked together on how to solve some of the common issues in both countries. Okayama University students also had three sessions, to study Thailand, prepare proposals, and have a reflection on their experience.

A public reporting session was held on March 29, and each Okayama University student shared what they have tried in this program, and their learning. At the end of the session, Professor Teng Jian, the Chair of the International Committee of School of Economics commented “It is great to have this kind of experience even under the COVID pandemic. Please continue learning about other cultures as well as your own, together with English as a common communication tool.”.
