This was the first time in three years that this tournament was held, and there were concerns about the impact of the new coronavirus, but all five Chugoku universities, Tottori University, Shimane University, Hiroshima University, Yamaguchi University, and Okayama University participated. Men's and women's team competitions (3 singles matches and 2 doubles matches) and individual doubles competitions were held to compete for ranking.

In the men's team competition, Tottori University won the championship with four wins, and our team came in second with three wins and one loss. In the women's team competition, Yamaguchi University won the championship with four wins, and our team, with three wins and one loss, came in second place.

In the doubles competition, 43 pairs participated in the men's division and 17 pairs in the women's division, competing for the championship in a tournament. In the men's division, the winning pair of Kenshiro Takahashi (1st year, Medical School) and Motoki Chono (3rd year, Faculty of Environmental Science and Technology) won the tournament with five wins.

Reflecting on the tournament, Mr. Chono, the captain of the Badminton Club of our university, commented, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in for making this tournament possible amid the spread of the new coronavirus infection. As for our university's badminton team, we came in second place in both the men's and women's team competitions, just one step away from winning, but we were able to win the individual competitions and fully demonstrate the results of our training. We are also very happy to have had the opportunity to play matches and interact with other universities through this tournament, and to have grown as a team in many aspects. We will continue our activities with taking even greater care than before to prevent infectious diseases to ensure that this tournament will be held in the next year and beyond.
