Consulate of Switzerland in Osaka Consul Felix MOESNER visited Okayama University on September 9 and paid a courtesy visit to President MAKINO Hirofumi. As well as President MAKINO, Executive Director for Research/Vice President NASU Yasutomo and Vice President for International Affairs SUZUKI Takayoshi were present in the meeting.
　
In the meeting, there was an introduction from Consul MOESNER about initiatives for linking universities with start-ups to promote start-ups by young Swiss nationals overseas. In response to this, Executive Director NASU explained about a start-up company from Okayama University engaged in a project for discovering next-generation cancer medication with gene therapy using a cancer treatment gene discovered by the university.
　
After the meeting, Consul MOESNER and the group visited the Institute of Plant Science and Resources. The Director of Institute of Plant Science and Resources HIRAYAMA Takashi and Professor SUZUKI Nobuhiro also attended the tour, and they introduced the Institute, as well as showing the Consul around the field, laboratories and library.
It is hoped that this visit will lead to the further strengthening of exchange.
