November 17, 2022

Professor Ma Jian Feng and Associate Professor YAMAJI Naoki of Group of Plant Stress Physiology, Institute of Plant Science and Resources have been selected in the 2022 edition of the Highly Cited Researchers published by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters IP&Science).

This is the eighth consecutive year that Professor Ma has received the award since the 2015 edition, and the seventh time for Associate Professor YAMAJI Naoki.

Professor Ma and Associate Professor Yamaji have elucidated numerous transport mechanisms of various minerals essential for plant growth, and were internationally recognized as the world's most influential scientists in the field of "Plant & Animal Science".

The list, which attracts worldwide attention every year, selects approximately 7,000 eminent researchers from around the world who have published multiple papers with a very high number of citations (in the top 1%) in 21 natural and social science fields, as well as in cross-disciplinary categories, among all papers published worldwide over 11 years from January 2011 to December 2021. These researchers have had a significant impact on subsequent research, as papers with significantly higher citation counts are a measure of what the scientific community has judged to be meaningful and useful.

In accepting the award, Professor Ma commented, "I am very happy to be selected for the eighth consecutive year. I will continue to work steadily in the future.
