On August 28, a send-off ceremony was held in the President's Office to honor the nine students participating in the Japan-China Friendship Delegation.
The event was attended by Professor SUZUKI Takayoshi, Director of the Institute of Global Human Resource Development, Associate Professor OBAYASHI Junko, and President NASU Yasutomo who offered words of encouragement to the students.
President Nasu reflected on Okayama's historical ties to Japan-China friendship, highlighting influential figures such as GUO Moruo, a graduate of the former Sixth High School who became a distinguished literary figure, historian, and politician, bridging the two nations; KONAGA Keiichi, a first-generation graduate of Okayama University who, as a secretary to former Prime Minister TANAKA Kakuei, played a crucial role in the signing of the Japan-China Peace and Friendship Treaty; and OKAZAKI Kaheita, a notable advocate of the Japan-China trade agreement who contributed to the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China.
Inspired by this rich history, the students expressed their commitment to serve as ambassadors of friendship between Japan and China, leveraging their valuable experiences during the trip.
The delegation will visit Xi'an, China, from September 3 to 8. Updates on their activities will be posted regularly on the official social media channels of the Study Abroad Preparation Desk. We look forward to following their journey!
