From August 5 to 18, the 76th West Japan Medical Student General Sports Tournament commonly known as "Nishiitai" was held. Based on the results from various games, Okayama University claimed the overall championship. This marks the first time in 19 years that Okayama University has won the overall title since the 57th competition in 2005.

The Nishiitai is a sports competition for medical students including all medical schools located in western Japan. For sports clubs within medical faculties, the Nishiitai is considered the most important and prestigious event.

This year, the tournament was hosted by Kawasaki Medical University and included competitions in 20 different sports, such as hard tennis, soft tennis, soccer, semi-hard baseball, archery, athletics, and kendo.
