The Miss World Japan competition, held on October 2, is one of the most prestigious global contests, with its slogan "Beauty with a purpose," aiming to harness the power of beauty to contribute to society. Contestants from around the world engage in active charitable activities, including support for children and addressing various national issues, while also working to promote women's dignity and elevate their status.
At the Japan finals of Miss World, TAGEN Yura, a student in the Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) at Okayama University, was chosen as the second runner-up for Miss World Japan 2024! Additionally, she received the TBS Voice Award, marking a double honor.
Currently studying cultural anthropology and sociology in the GDP, Ms. Tagen shared: "More than half of my classmates are international students, and in this program, I have the opportunity to expand my perspective by interacting with a wide range of sensibilities and diverse backgrounds daily. I have also loved beautiful things since childhood, and have learned various forms of art, such as classical ballet, choir, vocal music, and musicals, which helped me develop my self-expression skills." She also expressed: "Through meeting many people from different cultures and backgrounds, I have come to realize the importance of understanding and respecting each other."
