On December 8, President NASU Yasutomo visited the Brazil-Japan Cultural and Welfare Association in São Paulo and delivered a lecture to local students. The Brazil Okayama Prefecture Cultural Association hosted the lecture titled "The Future of Japan: Exploring Okayama University with President NASU Yasutomo." This event highlighted Okayama and Okayama University, showcasing the opportunities for Brazilian students to study in Japan. Over 40 attendees, including key stakeholders, were present and engaged throughout the presentation.
In the lecture, President Nasu highlighted the attractions of Okayama Prefecture, the distinctive initiatives at Okayama University, and the diverse programs available for international students. He stated, "Okayama Prefecture boasts a pleasant climate and is a comfortable place to live, and our university provides an extensive scholarship system. We aim to increase enrollment from Brazil, so I encourage you to explore what Okayama University offers. Additionally, for those of Japanese descent, I urge you to discover and value your roots."
During the following Q&A session, attendees posed various questions, such as "What programs are available at Okayama University?" and "Are exams offered in English or Japanese?" This demonstrated a keen interest in pursuing studies at Okayama University. One participant expressed, "I received insights about Japan that I couldn't find online, and my desire to visit Japan has intensified."
At Okayama University, we focus on the "Japanese community" in Central and South America and aim to attract more international students from these regions, which have seen relatively few students studying at our university. We will continue to actively promote the development of human resources who can play a global role.
