February 12, 2025

On January 23, Minister Moustapha Mamba GUIRASSY of the Senegal Ministry of National Education, along with Ambassador Jean Antoine DIOUF of the Embassy of Senegal in Japan, visited Okayama University and paid a courtesy call on President NASU Yasutomo. In addition to President Nasu, attendees from the university included Vice President for International Affairs and Alumni SUZUKI Takayoshi, Dean of the School of Education and Graduate School of Education TAKASE Atsushi, and Director of the Education for Sustainable Development Promotion Centre of the Graduate School of Education FUJII Hiroki. This visit was made possible because Okayama University, led by Director Fujii, has been supporting Senegal since 2012 through JICA's "Improvement Project for Science and Mathematics Education" and "Primary Education Mathematics Ability Improvement Project" and has maintained a long-standing exchange relationship.

During the courtesy visit, Minister Guirassy conveyed his gratitude for the ongoing cooperation and expressed appreciation for the visit on behalf of the President of Senegal. In response, President Nasu stated his desire to further strengthen the strategic partnership with Senegal in the future.

On the same day, Minister Guirassy and his delegation visited the School of Education at Okayama University, where they attended a lecture on Japanese education.

This visit is expected to further strengthen the exchange between the two sides.
