On March 3, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary ITAGAKI Katsumi, Embassy of Japan in Paraguay, visited Okayama University and paid a courtesy call to President NASU Yasutomo. Ambassador Itagaki assumed his post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan in Paraguay in December 2024, and this was his first visit to Okayama University. The visit was made possible after President Nasu visited Paraguay in December 2024, where he signed an agreement with the National University of Asunción and visited various related institutions.
During the courtesy visit, Ambassador Itagaki introduced a variety of issues, including the need for infrastructure development and human resource training in Paraguay. President Nasu shared his impressions of his visit to Paraguay, his thoughts on the country, and discussed the strengthening of collaboration with the South American region, including Paraguay. Following this, an active exchange of opinions took place, and it was agreed that both sides would continue to work closely together for the development of Paraguay.
Building on last year’s visit and this latest discussions, Okayama University will begin full-scale exchanges in education and research in the South American region, and promote the expansion of a wide range of activities.
