Okayama University Holds 2025 Matriculation Ceremony for Undergraduate and Graduate Students

April 03, 2025

On April 2, Okayama University held its 2025 Entrance Ceremony for both undergraduate and graduate students at the Okayama Prefectural Multipurpose Ground Gymnasium (ZIP ARENA OKAYAMA). A total of 3,487 new students were welcomed and celebrated as they embark on the next chapter of their academic journey.

In his ceremonial address, President NASU Yasutomo introduced the key themes of “Okadai Love” and “FUEKI-RYUKO” (constancy and change), stating:

“Many of today’s societal challenges are intricately intertwined. It is vital to discern what remains constant amidst change. At such times, we must envision what the future should look like, think deeply about what actions are needed now to move toward that vision, and take personal initiative to act.

From today, as students of Okayama University, a new day filled with hope begins. I encourage you to believe in yourselves, take initiative, and take that all-important first step. I sincerely hope that the future we build together will go beyond our university’s history and traditions, and bring each of you a sense of pride and hope.”

Representing the incoming class, ITO Yuka from the School of Letters delivered a pledge on behalf of all new students:

“We are determined not to be swept away by change, but instead to face challenges proactively as we pursue our dreams and goals. As new students of Okayama University, a university rich in history and tradition, we pledge to commit ourselves to our studies, approach every task sincerely, and strive to lead meaningful student lives while contributing to society.”

The ceremony was attended by many parents and guardians, who warmly supported the new students as they embarked on this important new chapter in their lives.
