On March 25, a delegation from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), including Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Dr. Loh Teck Chwen, paid a courtesy visit to President NASU Yasutomo of Okayama University. The School of Agriculture at Okayama University and the Faculty of Agriculture at University Putra Malaysia have maintained an active partnership for over 30 years, engaging in student exchanges and collaborative research between faculty members. This long-standing and robust relationship laid the foundation for this visit.

Dean Loh introduced future exchange plans discussed during the visit with the School of Agriculture at Okayama University and expressed hope for expanding collaboration to a university-wide level. In response, President Nasu emphasized the importance of mutual exchange and conveyed his intention to further strengthen the already close relationship between the two universities.

Okayama University established the Okayama University Japan Education Information Center (OJEIC) Malaysia Office on the UPM campus in December 2024 as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)-commissioned project, "Global Network Project to Promote Study in Japan (ASEAN Regional Office)." A formal opening ceremony is scheduled to take place in May 2025.

This visit is expected to serve as an opportunity for even deeper collaboration between Okayama University and University Putra Malaysia.
