On April 3, a delegation from Trier University, Germany, including President Eva Martha Eckkrammer and professors of Japanese studies, visited Okayama University and paid a courtesy visit to President NASU Yasutomo. The two universities have an exchange agreement between their School of Letters and have deepened their relationship through student exchanges of two to three students annually.
During the courtesy visit, President Eckkrammer introduced similarities between the two universities and their regions, such as the high number of bicycle users on campus and the presence of ancient ruins, fostering a friendly atmosphere for active discussion. She also reported that Okayama University is popular among their students compared to universities in the Kanto region, including Tokyo, and has received high praise from students after their return to Germany. Furthermore, President Eckkrammer expressed enthusiasm for expanding exchanges beyond the School of Letters to other faculties in the future.
In response, President Nasu expressed his expectation to further expand the cooperative relationship built thus far by leveraging these commonalities.
This visit is expected to serve as an opportunity for deepening the international exchange between Okayama University and Trier University.
