On June 19, 2025, a group of 16 graduate students and three faculty members from the College of Management at National Sun Yat-sen University (Taiwan) visited Okayama University as part of the university’s University Social Responsibility (USR) program. The delegation attended a lecture and discussion session on Okayama University’s carbon neutrality initiatives, led by Executive Director for Digital Transformation and Green Transformation ABE Masanobu.
Although Okayama University and National Sun Yat-sen University have not yet concluded an academic exchange agreement, the visiting researchers specialize in urban engineering and regional revitalization—fields closely related to community development—and have previously interacted with Okayama’s business community at the private level. This visit provided an opportunity to further promote academic and international collaboration between the two universities.
During his lecture, Executive Director Abe introduced Okayama University’s initiatives for achieving carbon neutrality, focusing on collaborations between the Green Innovation Center and Maniwa City in the areas of forestry, timber, and wooden architecture. He also highlighted educational activities in which students from the School of Economics engage in calculating the Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) to visualize greenhouse gas emissions. A lively Q&A session followed the presentation, with participants actively exchanging opinions.
This visit is expected to serve as a catalyst for future collaboration and the further development of academic exchange between Okayama University and National Sun Yat-sen University.
