On October 4, prior to the One Young World (OYW) 2025 Summit to be held in Munich, Germany, student delegates from Okayama University attended the send-off event for the Japan delegation held in Tokyo. The participants from Okayama University were Nazyra Tachiara Azla, a third-year student in the Global Discovery Program, and Manapo Ishikawa, a fifth-year student in the Faculty of Medicine.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the OYW Summit, and Okayama University has dispatched student delegates annually since the Bangkok Summit in 2015.
At the send-off event, Mr. Kimihito Okubo, Representative Director of the One Young World Japan Committee, delivered an address, followed by video messages from partner organizations in Munich. Speeches by alumni ambassadors who had participated in previous summits were also presented to encourage this year’s delegates.
After the ceremony, a workshop was held for participants—including university students and young professionals who will attend the Munich Summit—to discuss themes for the One Young World Tokyo Summit scheduled for 2027. Through these discussions, participants deepened mutual understanding and built networks.
The Munich Summit will be held from November 3 to 6. The Japan delegation, including Ms. Azla and Ms. Ishikawa, will participate in international sessions, workshops, and networking events, engaging in discussions based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The five key themes of this year’s summit are Circular Economy, Anti-Hate, Responsible Tech, Education, and Peace & Security.
