July 30, 2026

Kaho Katayama (3rd-year, School of Science) and Sota Fujii (3rd-year, School of Engineering), members of the Okayama University Sailing Club, competed as a pair in the 2026 470 World Championship, held at Enoshima Yacht Harbor from August 10 to 17.

Ahead of the championship, Katayama said:

“I am truly grateful for this valuable opportunity to compete in a high-level event such as the World Championship. I will do my best to put the results of my training into practice during the races, while also learning as much as I can from the other competitors. I also hope to bring what I learn from this championship back to the club and use it to help us achieve victory at the Chugoku Intercollegiate Championship.”

Fujii said:

“This is an invaluable opportunity for the continued development of our club. I hope that what I learn throughout the championship can be accumulated as part of our team’s knowledge and data, contributing to the growth of the team and its future.”

We look forward to the continued success of Katayama, Fujii, and the Okayama University Sailing Club.
