The International Education and Student Mobility Division of Okayama University held Campus Life Orientations for newly enrolled international students on September 29 and October 7. Approximately 110 students participated in total over the two days.
These orientation sessions are held every year in April and September/October to help international students enjoy a fulfilling and safe life in Japan. Topics include introductions to the International Student Advising Room and L Café, immigration procedures, safety and crime prevention, health management, student life, and daily life in Japan.
On October 7, police officers from Okayama West Police Station were invited to give a lecture during the second half of the orientation. In addition to explaining how to ride bicycles safely and understand Japanese traffic rules, they provided practical guidance on a range of topics related to daily life, including how to respond to emergencies, crime prevention measures, and the proper handling of residence cards.
Throughout the lecture, the police officers engaged students with questions and encouraged them to compare Japanese rules and practices with those in their home countries. This provided a valuable opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the rules and circumstances in Japan.
Okayama University is committed to supporting international students as they settle into university life and adjust to their new environment. The University will continue to provide a range of services to help them make the most of their time at Okayama University, embrace new cultures and perspectives, and enjoy a fulfilling study abroad experience. Our department will also continue to provide guidance and assistance to help international students feel welcome and thrive at Okayama University.
