May 14, 2013

In order to provide more students the opportunity for social learning and further deepen and activate the fostering of global human resources and the understanding of different cultures, we have setup a place where students and overseas students can interact, the "L-café," on the 1st FL of the Building A Wing in Tsushima district’s Building for General Education. The opening ceremony was conducted on May 8th.

Upon moving the English café, the L-café was setup on the 1st FL of the University Building and enhanced three-fold to a space of 334 square meters. With the purpose of conducting broad-based interaction with various languages and not only English, the "L-café" was named by taking the first letter of Language and Learning. It comprises 4 areas: the Multipurpose area where group work and self-study are possible, the Advising area where teachers can give students advice and where students can consult each other, the Classroom area where 30 computers have been equipped and lectures are made possible, and the Café area. The space allows for a variety of activities.

President Kiyoshi Morita, the Executive Director, Dr. Hirofumi Abe, Vice-President of Education, Dr. Koji Kurihara, the Vice-President of Admission and Language Education, as well as the Director of Language Education Center, teacher staff, and approximately 100 students attended the opening ceremony. President Morita greeted everyone in English by saying, "I am looking forward to the deepening of interactions between our university's students and the overseas students as well as the many students from various countries coming to Japan to study”. President Kiyoshi Morita, together with Dr. Abe and Dr. Kurihara conducted the sign's unveiling ceremony.
