Reported on the results of our cutting edge research at the largest biotechnology exhibition and conference held in Asia

May 15, 2013

Our university participated in the BIOtech 2013 in Japan - The 12th Int’l Bio Technology Exhibition & Conference - Asia’s largest bio event, which was held at Tokyo Big Site from May 8th to May 10th. With lectures and our cutting edge research results related to medical care and plants, we were able to have active exchanges of opinions with affiliated corporations and participants from medical organizations.

More than 110 people - the most in the history of this event - listened to the lecture by Dr. Masaharu Seno, the Dean of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, who was the 1st in the world to succeed in the model creation of iPS cells of mice to cancer stem cells. Dr. Takashi Sera, professor at the same school who created plants that do not get infected by viruses by using artificial DNA binding protein genes, and Dr. Ayano Sato, assistant professor who researches new compounds related to phenomena in living bodies, such as cell death and cell proliferation, also gave lectures. Participants who attended eagerly listened.

Our university's display booth also introduced Okayama University's Career Support Center for Young Researchers. The booth promoted the programs which foster and support the career of doctors who can play active roles in the industry.

We, at the Organization for Research Promotion & Collaboration, actively support exhibitions in order to advance the spread of research results and technology transfers and such.
