February 21, 2011

Okayama University reached an exchange agreement with The University of Strasbourg, on January 21st 2011. An exchange agreement was first established between the University of Strasbourg's Institute of Political Studies and Okayama University's Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences on July 2010; this new agreement is an expansion on the original, allowing students and professors from all faculties to participate in the exchange.
The signing ceremony took place at The University of Strasbourg with the participating guests including Alain Beretz, President of The University of Strasbourg; Anne Clèves Pélissier Vice President of The University of Strasbourg; Dr. Toyonobu Sato, Vice President of Okayama University; and Dr. Araki Masaru, Dean of the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The agreement documents were exchanged between President Beretz and Vice President Sato.
Okayama's Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences has already sent faculty members to Strasbourg's Institute of Political Studies, and future exchanges of both students and faculty members’ in Graduate school of Natural Science and Technology and Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences will be planned.
The University of Strasbourg was founded in 1631, and is one of the largest universities in France, with about 43,000 students from 38 faculties. We hope the agreement proves to be a great achievement for both universities, and that we can cooperate to work towards a successful program for years to come.
