Associate Professor Kenji Matsuura of Graduate School of Environmental Science was awarded the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Prize and the Japan Academy Medal

Associate Professor Kenji Matsuura of the Graduate School of Environmental Science received the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Prize and the Japan Academy Medal for the 2010 academic year at a ceremony held by the Japan Academy in Tokyo, March 3, 2011.

Associate Professor Matsuura was recognized for his remarkable achievements in clarifying the social ecology of termites particularly the succession of queen termites.

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Prize recognizes researchers under 45 years of age who have shown creativity and outstanding research ability and was awarded to 25 recipients this year. Among the recipients of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Prize those whose achievements are seen as extraordinary receive the Japan Academy Medal. There were six recipients of the Japan Academy Medal this year.
