Okayama University’s Rowing Club participated in the 29th Kansai Collegiate Autumn Championships (Kakogawa Regatta), which was held at a venue with special lanes in front of the Kakogawa Boating Center in Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture from November 2 to 4.

A total of 151 crews from 22 universities entered the championships. Momotaro ’02, a men’s crew from Okayama University, took first place in the men’s novice coxed four, and Hibiki, a female crew from Okayama University, took second place in the women’s coxed quadruple scull.

Mr. Sudou, a member of the Momotaro ’02 crew expressed his aspiration of making the next leap forward by saying, “We practiced hard each day to become champions at this season-ending event. Through this championship, we were able to pave the way for better results next season. We’ll do our best to make the next season even better.” Ms. Ohiro, a member of the Hibiki crew, expressed her resolution by saying, “It was a final and memorable event for senior members. We are happy to have defeated the university that had defeated us in the preliminaries, but we couldn’t win the championship this year. Tackling many challenges we identified through this event, we will practice hard and upgrade our rowing skills for next year.”
