Australian delegation including Consul-General David Lawson, Australian Consul-General in Osaka, visits Okayama University

May 07, 2019

Consul-General David Lawson from the Australian Consulate General in Osaka and Commissioner, South Australia – Japan and Korea Sally Townsend from Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Australian Embassy visited Okayama University on April 23 and paid a courtesy call on President MAKINO Hirofumi.

The guests were welcomed by President Makino, Vice President KIMURA Kunio for International Affairs, Vice President YOKOI Atsufumi for Global Engagement Strategy, and Senior Assistant Professor KIJIMA Masahiro from Institute of Global Human Resource Development. Consul-General Lawson commented that Okayama Prefecture and the Government of South Australia have had a friendship for a long time and have conducted exchange in a wide variety of fields including industry and education, and expressed his hope to further strengthen that relationship. President Makino introduced SDG-related initiatives undertaken by the university, and referred to future possibilities for exchange, saying that the university was willing to provide cooperation in its area of strength.

This is the second visit by Consul-General Lawson to President Makino, following a visit in 2017. This visit will hopefully enhance exchange between the two parties even further.
