SDGs Ambassadors Hold a “Food for Good” Workshop in Preparation for the 2021 Hult Prize International Business Contest

October 28, 2020

On October 10 and 11, Okayama University SDGs Ambassadors and Okayama University-Ceed jointly sponsored a workshop on “Food for Good”. The workshop was planned and overseen by four SDGs ambassador students (NISHIMOTO Mitsuki, 4th year Faculty of Economics; SAWAYAMA Yukiya, 3rd year Faculty of Economics; OKAMOTO Shin, 3rd year Faculty of Economics; and OHNO Sakura, 3rd year Faculty of Science) under the supervision of Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science HONDA Yasuko. It was the first workshop held in preparation for the Hult Prize Okayama University Competition (on-campus qualifying round), which will take place on December 13. The workshop was discussion-based and gave participants the chance to exchange opinions on the 2021 Hult Prize theme, “Food for Good”.

A total of 31 students participated in the workshop. A wide range of students participated, from first-year undergraduate students to senior postgraduate students. In addition, students from all 11 faculties and the Global Discovery Program were represented, allowing for a unique opportunity where the topic could be engaged from multiple perspectives.

NISHIMOTO Mitsuki encouraged participants by saying that, "In order to achieve the SDGs and create a sustainable society, it is necessary for each of us to act with a sense of responsibility. I hope that as participants consider the most vital and familiar resource to the human experience; namely, food, that they will not only to think about a sustainable future, but also think of ways to turn that vision into a reality and take part in the Hult Prize competition.”

The university will continue to hold various workshops on business and presentation skills in preparation for the qualifying round on December 13.
