Screening Process
・General Entrance Examination
We select individuals who have acquired basic knowledge in high school, particularly those with sufficient foundational skills in mathematics, science, and foreign languages. The Common Test for University Admissions evaluates a broad range of basic academic abilities through examinations in six subjects comprising of eight areas. The University-specific Subject Area Admission Test assesses the foundational skills necessary for studying mathematics through tests in mathematics, science (two subjects), and foreign languages (English).
・Comprehensive Entrance Examination
We select individuals who have acquired basic high school level knowledge and possess intellectual curiosity and a spirit of inquiry towards mathematics. Through the review of school reports and personal statements, as well as interviews (including academic questions), we evaluate the suitability for studying mathematics by assessing interest and understanding of specialized areas to be studied at the university, such as self-expression and communication skills. Additionally, we require the Common Test for University Admissions covering three subjects and five areas to evaluate the comprehensive foundational academic abilities at the high school graduation level.
・Entrance Examination for Privately Financed International Students
We select individuals who have acquired basic high school level knowledge and possess intellectual curiosity and a spirit of inquiry towards mathematics. In the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), we evaluate foundational academic abilities through tests in science (selecting two subjects from physics, chemistry, and biology), mathematics, and Japanese. In the University-specific Subject Area Admission Test, we assess broad foundational academic abilities through tests in mathematics, science (one subject), and foreign languages (English). During the interview (including academic questions), we evaluate the candidates' motivation and suitability for studying mathematics.
・International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Examination
We evaluate foundational academic abilities, self-expression, and motivation through interviews (including academic questions) and document screening, which includes a transcript of grades, personal statements, and evaluation reports.
Other (Third-year Transfer Examination)
In the written examination, we evaluate basic understanding and logical thinking ability in calculus and linear algebra at the level of first- and second-year university courses. During the interview (including academic questions), we assess motivation and suitability for studying mathematics through questions about the reasons for applying to this department and the basic knowledge of mathematics (which may include the content of the written examination). We will ensure that candidates have academic abilities at the level of our second-year students. Additionally, we may assess foreign language (English) proficiency. In recommendation-based entrance examinations, the written examination is waived.

We select individuals who have already received an education equivalent to our liberal arts education and have acquired knowledge of major courses in physics at the level of first- and second-year university courses. Additionally, candidates must possess the foundational academic ability and learning motivation required for advanced specialized education. In the interview (including academic questions), we comprehensively evaluate scientific thinking, expression, learning motivation, and suitability, including an oral examination on basic knowledge of physics and English.

We select individuals who possess foundational academic abilities and broad knowledge equivalent to graduation from a technical college or junior college or completion of the second year of university and who have an interest in the mechanisms of nature and fundamental laws. In the general entrance examination, we evaluate foundational academic abilities, motivation, and suitability for studying chemistry through document screening and interviews (including academic questions in chemistry and English). In the recommendation-based entrance examination, we comprehensively evaluate learning motivation, academic abilities, and suitability through document screening and interviews (including academic questions).

The Common Test for University Admissions will require examinations in eight subjects across six fields, and the University-specific Subject Area Admission Test will assess two science subjects, mathematics, and a foreign language (English) to comprehensively evaluate basic academic skills.
・School Recommendation-Based Entrance Examination Ⅰ (not requiring the Common Test for University Admissions)
We will select individuals who have acquired a wide range of basic high school level knowledge and have sufficient academic ability. A comprehensive evaluation will be made based on the results of document screening (school report, letter of recommendation, statement of purpose), comprehensive test, and an interview (including academic questions). The comprehensive test will assess logical thinking skills, reading comprehension, and expressive abilities, which are important for studying biology. The interview (including academic questions) will evaluate the applicant's interest and understanding of the specialized fields to be studied at the university, including self-expression abilities, communication skills, and aptitude for learning biology.
・Entrance Examination for Privately Financed International Students
We will select individuals who have acquired a wide range of basic high school level knowledge and have sufficient Japanese language ability to attend classes in Japanese, based on their scores in science (chemistry, biology), mathematics, and Japanese on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU). Additionally, University-specific Subject Area Admission Test will assess science (biology) and foreign language (English), and through an interview (including academic questions), we will comprehensively evaluate the applicant's motivation and aptitude for studying biology.
・International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Examination
Through document screening, we will evaluate basic academic ability, self-expression skills, and motivation based on transcripts of grades, personal statements, and evaluation reports.
Other (Third-year Transfer Examination)
We will evaluate English proficiency based on the score report of an English proficiency test. In the interview (including academic questions), we will assess the applicant's motivation for studying biology, basic understanding of biology at the level of the first and second years of university, and logical thinking ability. In the recommendation entrance examination, we will comprehensively evaluate the applicant's motivation for study, academic ability, and aptitude through document screening and an interview (including academic questions).

Additionally, we will impose the Common Test for University Admissions in three subjects and five fields to evaluate the comprehensive basic academic skills at the high school graduate level.
・Entrance Examination for Privately Financed International Students
We will select individuals who have acquired a wide range of basic high school level knowledge and have a strong interest in the history of the Earth and various phenomena occurring inside and outside the Earth. The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) will evaluate basic academic skills through tests in science (choosing 2 subjects from physics, chemistry, and biology), mathematics, and Japanese. The University-specific Subject Area Admission Test will assess foreign language (English), mathematics, and science (choosing 1 subject from physics and chemistry), and through an interview (including academic questions), we will evaluate the applicant's basic academic skills, motivation, and aptitude for studying Earth sciences.
・International Baccalaureate (IB) Entrance Examination
Through document screening, we will evaluate basic academic ability, self-expression skills, and motivation based on transcript of grades, personal statements, and evaluation reports.
Other (Third-year Transfer Examination)
We will conduct an oral examination to assess the basic academic skills in a foundational subject for Earth sciences (selected from physics and chemistry), as well as mathematics and English. Additionally, through an interview, we will comprehensively evaluate the applicant's motivation for study, learning ability, and aptitude for studying Earth sciences.
