Perera Gamamada Liyanage Erandi Priyangika (Sri Lanka)

I am Erandi Perera who is a graduate student from Sri Lanka. I’m investigating the ways in which the environmental pollution can be mitigated by reducing nutrient enrichment of water bodies using the relationship of microbial reaction in-between soil and water. It is a great privilege to join with the Soil Science Laboratory in Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science at Okayama University. My hobbies are reading, listening music and watching movies. As a foreign student, I am very much enjoying the Japanese cultural differences and impressive hospitality in a very peaceful surrounding. The amazing feeling of novel climate and the beautiful environment in the Land of Sakura makes me happy and fresh on each splendid day.

Tesfau Bekele (Ethiopia)

My name is Tesfau Bekele who is from Ethiopia. After getting my BSc degree in Biology I had been impressed and shifted to environmental education and, hence, studied aquatic ecosystems and environmental management for my MSc. Degree at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Now, I have joined the Okayama University of Japan in 2021 to enroll my doctoral study in the graduate school of environment and life sciences particularly at soil management laboratory under the supervision of Professor Morihiro MAEDA. I am filled with delight that MEXT has provided me with a prestigious opportunity to study at one of the best universities and destinations in the world where I believe my research interest would be capitalized on and cultural and professional integrity would be widened.

I am from Shandong province, China. I found it is interesting to study various changes in the soil and came to the soil management laboratory. I want to learn more knowledge in a good laboratory atmosphere. Hobbies: playing table tennis, listening music, traveling, and etc.

Nguyen Tu Uyen (Vietnam)

I am Nguyen Tu Uyen from Vietnam and graduated with a master’s degree from Okayama University in 2021. I am currently a doctoral student at the Soil Management Laboratory, Okayama University. I continue to do my research related to the use of sediment microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) for in-situ remediation of water quality and power generation in aquaculture ponds. I hope that this research will contribute to the treatment of wastewater from aquaculture ponds in the future, and what I have learned through research has helped me grow. In addition, Japan is also one of the amazing places with fascinating natural sites, delicious food, and interesting culture for me to spend time experiencing. My hobbies are traveling, taking photos, and listening to music.

I am Gao Lingxue from China. I like eating delicious food, painting and watching movies. Influenced by Japanese anime and TV dramas, I am very interested in Japanese life and scenery, especially as a food lover, I also like Sushi, Okonomiyaki and other Japanese delicacies. So I want to study in Japan. I am very interested in the knowledge of the pedosphere, so I applied to the Soil Management Laboratory. In addition, I am very grateful to the professor for giving me this opportunity, so that I can study as reserch trainee, and I will continue to try my best in the future.

I came to this university because I am interested in land use and soil chemistry. I would like to do research while thinking about what I can do in the future. There are many international students in our laboratory, so I will study as if I were here as an exchange student. My hobby is drinking. I drink beer in summer and whiskey in winter.

I'm interested in dry lands and irrigation in the world, so I went to this environmental management course to study them. Through the lectures, I noticed that soil related to dry lands and irrigation is important and chose this laboratory. I'm looking forward to exploring my interests. Then after graduating from the graduate school, I would like to work in the world such as Africa or Asia, and make many people smile. My hobby is climbing at the mountain, camping, cycling, and traveling. I'm going to work on various things outside of studying.

I am from Tamana High School I am from Kumamoto Prefecture. I chose this laboratory because I am interested in the relationship between greenhouse gas emission control and soil. Since I came to this laboratory, I have many opportunities to listen to English, so I would like to do my best in English conversation as well as in research. My hobby is watching TV dramas.
