Summary:There is a work to control handling of information that is not necessary judging from the object of the behavior in the one of the functions of visual attention. Because the human sight system cannot process all input information at a time, the whole scene is processed by turning visual attention continuously to spatial position. Therefore it is important in aspect of clarifying work of the human sight system to elucidate a control mechanism of visual attention that determine which position of the scene visual attention is directed to. Previous studies shows that mainly two factors determine which position of the space the attention is turned to. That is, the factor of the stimulation drive type (stimulus driven) such as conspicuity of the stimulation and the factor of concept drive type (goal driven) such as knowledge and the context of the scene. We pay attention to inhibition of return (IOR) that is a control mechanism of the attention by the factor of the concept drive type. The inhibition of return is, the phenomenon that restrain from paying attention again to the periphery of the position which paid attention once, and is considered to contribute to effectively move attention during seeking in the scene by attention.
