There is a lot of information about nutrition and health in the media, but the conclusion is always "a balanced
diet and appropriate exercise are important." If this is true, we need to clarify when the balance is lost (by dietary habit, lifestyle, genotype, aging, etc.) and
how to cope with the loss of balance, using the methods of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and others. Humans and animals have different life cycles;
hence, the goals, objectives, and approaches to overcome problems and obstacles are different. For humans and companion animals, extending the time of healthy life
is a challenging issue. The mission of food-producing animals (livestock) is to make animal foods (milk, meat, and eggs), and the meaning of balance is different
from that of humans. Food-producing animals and wild animals are heavily affected by the environment, including climate and hygienic conditions. Prevention of
infectious diseases is extremely important for livestock. We are working on a variety of topics related to food, nutrition, immunity, hygiene, and the environment.
Suppose you are keen to apply your research outcome to improve human and animal health, prevent infectious and non-infectious lifestyle-related diseases, and aim to
share your ideas with the scientists in the world. In that case, we will consider new challenges as well.

Providing safe and sufficient food to people is still the most important mission of agricultural research.
We have increased food productivity through machinery and industrialization, but protecting the environment and animal health has become more difficult.
Disorders in human and animal health, food and environmental hygiene are often related to changes in the composition and function of the microbiota.
Using microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and others, we would like to understand and propose how we achieve good health and sustained food production.
We will promote joint research with tropical Asia to find measures and preparations for global warming. |
