Partial revision of Enforcement Order of Industrial Safety and Health Act, Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health and Ordinance on Prevention of Hazards Due to Specified Chemical Substances
 - Toward autonomous management of chemical substances -

 Enforcement Order of Industrial Safety and Health Act, Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health and Ordinance on Prevention of Hazards Due to Specified Chemical Substances have been partially revised. The three main changes are as follows
  1. Expansion of the scope of obligation to communicate danger / hazardous information when outsourcing equipment repair, etc.
  2. Expansion of target industries for which foreman education is mandatory
  3. Addition of chemical substances that must be labeled and notified by name, etc. (234 substances)
 The enforcement date is scheduled to be April 1, 2023 for 1 and 2, and April 1, 2024 for 3. For more information, please refer to the following documents [in Japanese].

Partial revision of Ordinance on Health Standards in the Office
 - Effort targets for room temperature have changed -

 Effort targets for room temperature where air conditioning equipment is provided have been changed to be between 18 and 28 degrees Celsius (Currently between 17 and 28 degrees Celsius).

Partial revision of Ordinance on Health Standards in the Office and Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health
 - Occupational health standards in the workplace have changed -

 In addition to the standards for lighting in offices, the occupational health standards for cleanliness and rest in offices and other workplaces have been revised by law. As social situation changed, standards were raised or relaxed with a view to all working people.

Arc welding and other operation - Health hazard prevention measures are mandatory -

 "Welding fumes" generated in metal processing operations such as arc welding have been shown to affect the health of operator. The law has been amended to require measures to prevent health problems in metal arc welding and other operations(*). The main health hazard prevention measures are as follows.

  • Operation of metal welding using an arc
  • Operation of fusing or gouging metal using an arc
  • Other operations producing or handling welding fumes

 New requirements include the implementation of special medical examinations and the appointment of Operations Chief of Work on Specified Chemical Substances. In indoor workplaces where the above operation is conducted regularly, it is necessary to measure the welding fume concentrations and use respiratory protective equipment according to the results.
 Please confirm the implementation of the above measures in the target workplaces.

Precautions for the use of constant temperature dryers and dry heat sterilizers

 There have been reports of unsafe events occurring in the target products of the constant temperature dryer and dry heat sterilizer MOV series, and an alert has been issued by PHC Corporation. If you are using the target product, please check the notes in the following document and use it safely in the correct way.

 Also, if you are using constant temperature dryer dryer or dry heat sterilizer other than the target product, please check the instruction manual for the correct way to use it.
