Introduction
Summary
Our unit investigates the relationship between the gut and oral microbiome (population of microorganisms) and human health. For example, we are studying the disruption of the symbiotic relationship between host and gut microbiota caused by excessive lipid intake, the gut microbial profiles that exacerbate conditions in diseases including periodontitis and cancer, and the mechanisms by which oral bacteria translocated into the intestinal tract and negatively impact systemic health.
