Overview
Research Center for Intestinal Health Science was established as a university-wide center in April 2024.
Intestinal diseases are among the most prevalent diseases globally. Worldwide, 1.5 million people die each year from acute intestinal diseases such as diarrhea, exceeding the number of deaths from AIDS and malaria. In Japan, chronic intestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis are on the rise.
In light of these social circumstances, the center was established with the aim of fostering a multidisciplinary and integrated research system under the university’s research management framework. We will promote comprehensive gut research utilizing data from individuals (patients and healthy people), with the goal of translating research findings into practical applications and contributing to the improvement of gut and human health.
