Efforts toward Promotion of Kurashiki Tourism Utilizing PSIM(Industry-government-academia collaboration on Kurashiki tourism)

Quality educationDecent work and economic growthIndustty, Innovation and Infrastructure

Sustainable economic growth and regional development is an urgent issue for non-metropolitan areas. This initiative is an effort involving collaboration between staff and students of NTT DoCoMo, Kurashiki City and Okayama University Graduate School of Social and Cultural Sciences (College of Letters Department of Geography) with Kurashiki city utilizing advanced ICT technology as a common theme. This effort aims at promoting sustainable industrialization and creation of innovation and training advanced practitioners through "practical knowledge" education.

Through this effort, the three actors commonly understood the necessity of collaboration to solve regional problems through industry-university-government collaboration. For our university, we gained the results of (1) development and proposal of practical knowledge education program which contributes to the training of advanced practitioners, and (2) recognition of the necessity of fusion of knowledge and practical knowledge. For the students, we also achieved results such as (3) acquisition of practical knowledge based on a mutual dependency relationship, learning about aspects such as how to identify regional issues, analysis method and thinking to solve problems.
