Creation of research base for sustainable, low-cost and reliable energy supply to human society

Affordable and clean energyClimate action

Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Science (RIIS) aims at a creation of research frontier through the interdisciplinary science in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biological science. In particular, RIIS focuses on advancement of research on photosynthesis system, superconducting materials, future electronics, energy storage materials and neutrino physics, which may pioneer a new paradigm for the sustainable progress of human society.

The realization of artificial photosynthesis system, superconducting materials with high superconducting transition temperature (Tc) (high-Tc superconductors), new high-performance electronics based on light-elements and topological materials, and energy storage materials based on cluster / clathrate are among the most important research subjects in RIIS. These studies are currently performed by extensive interdisciplinary / international research collaborations. Further research collaborations will be systematically developed among RIIS and world-top class research centers.
