Kamikatsu, Japan’s first zero-waste town, shows how a small rural community can inspire global change. Many young people care about the environment but feel unsure where to start. The problems can feel complex and overwhelming. In this lecture, we share how sustainable tourism can be a tool for learning, connection, and cultural exchange. Drawing on the INOW Program and Kana and Sil’s experience living in the countryside, we explore challenges, successes, and how small actions can build a more circular, waste-free future.
