Weight Training club Wins Team Title at the 41st Fall Kansai Student Powerlifting Championships! Five students won in their classifications! Advanced to Intercollegiate Championships!

December 13, 2022

On November 27, our Weight Training club won the first place in the team division of the "41st Fall Kansai Student Powerlifting Championships" held at our university. The team also won the team division at the 57th Spring Kansai Student Powerlifting Championships held on August 28 at the same university, making it two consecutive team championships for the team.

In addition, five students won in each weight classes, with FUJII Saki (4th year, Faculty of Law) in the women's 52kg weight class and TSUBOUCHI Reo (2nd year, School of Economics) in the men's 105kg weight class setting new All-Japan student records.

This competition is a selection event for the Intercollegiate Championships to be held in December, and is a competition that measures the abilities of each university. Many members of our university's weight training club were selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Championships, showing the strength of the club to other universities.

In response to this result, Fujii said, "I was able to break the student record thanks to my coaches and seniors who gave me advice, as well as my classmates and juniors who trained with me on a daily basis. I will continue to do my best without being satisfied with my current situation. I also believe that I was able to show that even an athletically inept person like myself can break student records. I would be happy if it was an opportunity for juniors to learn the importance of continuing. Tsubouchi said enthusiastically, "There were many uncertainties in this tournament, such as losing weight and reviewing my form, but with the support of my coaches and seniors, I was able to challenge the tournament in perfect condition. I'm aiming for a record."

HAMAGUCHI Taiki (4th year, School of Letters), the captain of the weight training club, said, "We are very happy to have won the overall championship in the preliminary round of the Intercollegiate Championships, beating out strong Kyoto University of Science and Technology. I am also very happy that there were 17 participants in the Intercollegiate Championships, the most in recent years. We will continue the momentum from this time's victory to win the overall championship at the Intercollegiate Championships as well."
