On August 4, A lunch meeting of young researchers with President Nasu was held at the Institute for Planetary Materials (IPM), Okayama University in Misasa, Tottori. This meeting was held in conjunction with the president’s attendance at the 66th Curie Festival Ceremony held in Misasa, Tottori and there were 16 participants including researchers and graduate students of IPM and international students of the Misasa International Student Internship Program (MISIP). They introduced their research and experience in Misasa and exchanged views with President Nasu over Bento.

President Nasu talked about the way of thinking that should be valued as a researcher including his experiences when he studied abroad and how to overcome difficult obstacles, and shared his vision of the University. He also said that "we are a family" and sincerely accepted various questions from young researchers and offered advice. One of the Internship students, Ankan Bhattacharyya (M2, Presidency University, Kolkata, India) said “The discussion with President Nasu was truly inspiring, as he shed light on valuable insights that can bring about positive changes in our lives. I learned that it is important to have dedication, passion in achieving success and not to give up.” Moreover, Dilan Harsha Fernando Diyalanthonige (D1, Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology) said “I want to collaborate with different facilities and universities around the world as I believe that connection is essential for a researcher and to bring works in conference to have a different view of the same problem.” The meeting was a great success and provided an opportunity for an active exchange of views with young researchers.

With encouragement from President Nasu and very high motivation for research activities, a symposium of the MISIP was held on August 8. Each internship student presented the achievements of his or her research project conducted over six weeks at the IPM. At the Certificate ceremony after the symposium, 8 internship students received the certificates and memorial goods from Prof. Yoshino, Director of the IPM, and were rewarded for their hard work over the six weeks at the farewell party. All participants sent off the internship students who completed the entire program, with the hope that the bonds established with each of them in Misasa will eventually connect the world and lead to worldwide connections that will promote science and help solve social problems.
