Exchange of Views with Consul General Xue Jian of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Osaka

On October 18, President NASU Yasutomo of Okayama University visited the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Osaka, located in Nishi Ward, Osaka City, where he held discussions with Consul General Xue Jian. The meeting was organized on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-China Peace and Friendship Treaty this year when the university officials visited the consulate for visa. Joining from Okayama University was Associate Professor Huang Peng from the Neutron Therapy Research Center, while Consul Nie Ruilin and Consul Zhou Lian represented the consulate.

During the discussions, Okayama University was introduced, and the focus was on international exchanges with Asia, including China. President Nasu's expertise in the field of healthcare was also highlighted, leading to various exchanges of ideas about healthcare and health-related talent development. They also explored the prospects of healthcare AI technology, which has been rapidly expanding in recent years, and the related startup ventures.

There are many international students from various countries and regions in Okayama Prefecture. Collaboration with not only private institutions but also embassies and consulates is crucial in supporting international students. Okayama University has a history of engaging in exchanges and discussions with ambassadors and consuls from different countries and regions, and this visit was part of that ongoing effort. The insights gained from such interactions will contribute to the internationalization of future educational and research activities.
